DFW Airport & Love Field: Medication Refill Help
Flying into Dallas Fort Worth International Airport (DFW) or Dallas Love Field (DAL) and running low on your regular medicine? Start by checking whether your existing prescription can be filled locally. If a new prescription is needed, an online clinician review may be an option.
At DFW Airport: a refill plan for your stay
Business travel, family visits and longer-than-planned stays can leave you short of medication. Whether you are staying in Irving, Grapevine, Euless, Coppell or elsewhere in the Metroplex, gather your current medication details and identify a pharmacy you can actually reach. Your hotel address and current Texas location help you plan pickup; they do not establish that a pharmacy has stock.
You do not have to travel to our Fairview practice address to start this online pathway. There is no MedRefillDFW airport clinic or terminal pickup service. Prescriptions, when issued, are sent to your selected pharmacy rather than supplied at the airport.
At Dallas Love Field: forgot your bottle at home?
If you arrived through Love Field and are staying in Dallas, University Park, Highland Park, Addison or another nearby community, ask your home pharmacy whether an eligible active prescription with refills can be transferred. Keep your original prescriber involved when possible. An out-of-state prescription does not automatically mean you need a new appointment; the dispensing pharmacy can explain what it can accept.
If the pharmacy cannot fill it because the prescription is expired, there are no refills left or new authorization is required, a clinician can assess whether temporary continuation is medically appropriate.
Lost luggage, a missing bottle or an international prescription
A photo of the original label, your pharmacy fill history, an electronic medication list or records from your regular clinician may help establish what you take. Explain when the medication went missing, when you last took it and whether any doses have been missed. A medication name alone may not be enough to safely confirm treatment.
If your prescription is from another country, bring the original packaging and any records showing the generic ingredient, strength and directions, ideally with an English translation. A U.S. clinician must make an independent assessment. Brand names, available strengths and formulations may differ; an overseas prescription is not automatically converted into a U.S. prescription.
Before your flight: allow time for both review and dispensing
Tell the clinician your departure time, but do not assume the service can meet a flight deadline. Review occurs during business hours and may require more information. Even after approval, pharmacy opening hours, availability, insurance processing and transportation can affect pickup. Confirm those details directly with the pharmacy. We do not guarantee same-day approval, pharmacy inventory or airport delivery.
Your traveler checklist
- Medication name, strength, directions and a readable label or fill record.
- Last dose, remaining supply, allergies and any new symptoms.
- Home prescriber and pharmacy contact information.
- Your current Texas location, local pharmacy and travel schedule.
- Relevant recent monitoring results or labs, when available.
Frequently asked traveler questions
Can I start before arriving in Texas?
You can read the information and prepare records before traveling. This DFW clinical review pathway is for patients physically in Texas at the time of care. Tell us if your location changes.
Can you refill my controlled medication if my bag is lost?
No. Controlled substances are outside this service, including controlled ADHD medicines, benzodiazepines and opioids. Contact your regular prescriber for an appropriate care plan.
Will travel insurance or an out-of-state plan cover the review?
Do not assume coverage. The self-pay review is $39, and medication is separate. Our BCBSTX PPO verify-first pathway applies only after plan-specific verification.
When online refill review is not the next step
If you have chest pain, severe trouble breathing, stroke symptoms, fainting or another medical emergency, call 911. If you are unwell after missing medication or cannot safely wait, seek prompt local medical evaluation rather than waiting for an online review or boarding a flight. Do not change your dose or take someone else’s medication to stretch your supply.
